This is my second year doing the concert poster for St Pete's even entitled Taste of Pinella's. this year they wanted a sunset so we thought about making the water have a different color than blue.
First came red, but quickly realized people thought it was bloody shark infested waters so... no go.

Then we tried purple. Really dug this idea but client came back no go.

SO we went back to blue. Least we gave it the ole collge try right?

Been SUPER SWAMPED lately with pushing the redesign of Kidhealth.org and working with new clients on a lot of cool new things that will land my artwork on more shelves in more stores in more of the country BUT when told about this tribute artshow to the upcoming tv show "ADVENTURE TIME with Finn and Jake" I had to fit this in... I think this show is going to be a HIT! Its weird, whacky and the style is very odd/intriguing.

Hey folks,
i have been working on alot of stuff i can't show before its published so i figured i would just show some of the nerdy cool stuff laying around my studio...

This first illustration mades its way into my posession when i did some work for a gallery in New Hope PA and was owed some scratch so we did a barter and i picked out this piece and the one below from artist Stephen Blickenstaff. the dudes work is silly awesome. he is probably most famous for doing The Cramps album cover.

Now this original sketch came from a gallery in Philly that i bought when Glenn Barr came to town.. the guy is a genius at painting the undebelly of a filthy city riddled with stripjoints and biker bars...

Here is a poster i created for this year's TASTE OF PINELLAS festival.

Its a pretty cool festival i am told.... this is a sorta different style for me where i throw away all line work and just start building shapes of color on top of other shapes of color.... I use Adobe Illustrator to create this effect... Drop me a line and let me know what ya think!

I did this playing catch up on Jelly of the Month. the topic was FREE ART TEST. it was a send away test that was advertised on tv between every cartoon in the early 80s. If you don't remember it look at this youtube video.

Anyhow i remember it mostly playing between Godzilla movies in the afternoons on WPIX or the Big Apple (which i believe was channel 5) so i decided to combine the two and make a mecha ghidorah out of the test.

So i was looking around to find a game i played years ago on what i thought was colecovision and found it... Zombies ate my neighbors! I think this was my favorite console game from the 90s. After this game the formats changed and this pretty much became aged overnight. Here is the trailer(cheesy 90s video game trailer)

For me it was awesome because back then all i wanted to do was draw aliens and monsters and stuff and there wasn't a big market for weird stuff like this... but this game made me feel there was other people out there that dug this stuff and other artists out there wanting to get stuff like this to those people that dug this stuff... now its a whole new ball game and people /kids dig weird monsters/robots/alien stuff again (thank god).

Anyhow i hope they release this on the Wii internet arcade so i can finally play this again... it would be fun.

Animalympics
this was on probably a hundred times on HBO when i was a kid and i probably watched it just as much. Its amazing if you watch the credits that Brad Bird (iron giant, the Incredibles) worked on this back in the day. Just fun, great animation.

Ok i have been hearing about this movie for over a year now and i see its making its rounds in animation festivals here in the USA so i assume DVD is close.... Check out the trailer above...

Been working wayyyy too much on freelance gigs during nights and weekends while holding up my new gig over at Kidshealth.org and decided to splurge a little (not too much tho).. 2 things i have been diggin.

1. Tex Avery's Droopy theatrical shorts

this stuff is way out there fun.. the expressions good ole Tex could get were amazing... and to see what passed for a kids cartoon then and how we couldn't air it now before 10pm is a riot.... Check it out... $22.99 at the local TARGET.

2. Animated Princess Leia statue (by www.gentlegiantltd.com)

these staues are great... the fun detail is just amazing... plan on picking them all up a little at a time off of ebay(which they seem to be selling for much cheaper than the price at gentle giant).

I hear that they closed this ride down at Universal Studios... I found some choppy but still great video of this ride. Check it out.. It was alot of fun and i think i went on it over 5 or 6 times... Shame that it is gone.
